Scheming Feline Funnies Packed With Plots, Plans and Purrfect Mischief

If your cat has been sitting across the room staring at you for the past ten minutes, we hate to break it to you, but something is definitely being planned.

Cats are suspicious little creatures. One minute they're peacefully loafing on the couch, and the next they're having a secret meeting behind the curtains with their sibling. What are they discussing? We have no idea, but judging by those faces, it probably isn't anything good.

Sometimes you can practically see the gears turning. They'll stare at the treat cabinet, look at you, glance back at the treats, and quietly start working out their next move. Maybe they're calculating whether they can make the jump. Maybe they're waiting for you to leave the room. Either way, that kitty brain is busy plotting.

Things get even more suspicious when multiple cats are involved. Two felines sitting side by side and staring at their hooman is never just a coincidence. They've discussed something. Plans have been made. You simply weren't invited to the meeting.

Then everything gets quiet.

Every cat pawrent knows silence is rarely a good sign. If you haven't seen your kitty in a while and the house suddenly feels a little too peaceful, you should probably start investigating. There's a decent chance they're somewhere they shouldn't be, doing something they definitely know they shouldn't be doing.

Of course, cats are smart enough to maintain plausible deniability. Catch them in the act and suddenly they have no idea what you're talking about. That shredded toilet paper? Never seen it before. Missing chicken from your plate? Sounds like a hooman problem.

We may never know exactly what goes on inside those furry little heads, but these suspicious cats certainly look like they're up to something.

Keep one eye on the cat and the other on the treat cabinet.

  • One cat plotting your demise is concerning enough, but two cats working together? You might want to start sleeping with one eye open. The second you catch them sitting suspiciously close together and staring in your direction, just assume a meeting has taken place. They’ve compared notes, discussed your recent offenses, and agreed on the appropriate punishment. We’re not saying you should be worried, but maybe give them a few extra treats tonight.   • Refuse your cat a treat at your own risk, because they will find a way to make you pay for it. Maybe your favorite glass gets suspiciously close to the edge of the counter. Maybe something gets knocked over at 3 a.m. Or maybe they’ll just sit across the room and stare at you like they’re plotting your downfall. You could have avoided all of this, hooman. Next time, hand over the treat and nobody has to suffer.

  • Cats will come up with the craziest schemes if there’s even a chance an extra treat might be involved. They’ll pretend they haven’t been fed, convince a second hooman that dinner never happened, or suddenly become the sweetest little angel you’ve ever met. Don’t fall for it. That kitty has a plan, and you’re already several steps behind. We have to respect the dedication. If cats put this much effort into anything besides snacks, they could take over the world.
